Install once. Configure from Shopify.
Use the app extension whenever possible. It keeps app code upgradeable and avoids copying private endpoints or scripts into a theme.
1. Install and approve access
- Install Catering Planners from its approved Shopify App Store or test-install link.
- Review the requested product, cart transform and validation permissions.
- Open the app and complete the setup guide.
2. Create your first catering product
Open Product Wizard, add package tiers and choose either Install sample setup or Start empty. The sample preview shows every menu item, delivery region and add-on before anything is created.
3. Enable the storefront extension
- From the app dashboard, select Theme editor.
- In App embeds, enable Catering Planners Storefront.
- Save the theme and preview a configured catering product and the cart.
Use the same app embed settings to add the merchant's catering phone, email, menu notes and up to three testimonials. Testimonials are disabled and empty on a fresh installation, so content never carries across merchants.
Testimonials and structured data
Visible testimonials are a storefront presentation feature. Product review structured data is separately disabled by default. Enable it only when each displayed testimonial is genuine and specifically reviews that catering product. General reviews of the catering business should remain visible testimonials without product review markup.
The extension handles the builder, cart presentation, enquiry dialog and customer order details. Do not paste the extension JavaScript or application URL into theme files.
Custom themes
Online Store 2.0 themes should work through the app embed without Liquid edits. If a custom theme uses unusual product or cart markup, first enable the embed and test the product, cart and customer order pages.
Compatibility checklist
- The theme renders Shopify's standard
content_for_headerandcontent_for_layoutobjects. - The product template has a visible
mainelement or product section. - The cart uses real Shopify line items and preserves line-item properties.
- The theme does not block app extension assets, dialogs or cart Ajax requests.
If presentation still conflicts, send the theme name, preview URL and screenshots to support. We will provide scoped CSS selectors or a compatibility patch for that theme. Replacing core Liquid files is a last resort and should be performed in a duplicated, unpublished theme.
Standard and Shopify Plus stores
The app detects supported capabilities and selects the correct pricing engine. Merchants use the same package builder and admin workflow; no product duplication or manual plan toggle is required.
Basic and Pro plans
Standard Basic and Plus Basic include the complete builder, delivery regions, checkout integration, customer-facing custom-region enquiry submission and merchant notification. Standard Pro and Plus Pro add the enquiry management workspace, status tracking, storefront testimonials and optional product-review structured data.
Shopify Plus capability determines whether the Standard bundle engine or Plus single-line engine can run. Upgrading from Basic to Pro adds operational and marketing tools; it does not change order pricing.
Delivery enquiries
Selecting Other as the delivery region changes only that catering cart into an enquiry. The merchant receives the selections and notes by email, and the enquiry is retained in the app's Enquiries screen.
